Creation of MOOCs and blended courses

COVID-19 is making a difference in how university studies work. One of the restrictions is the size of the audience at the university, which does not allow all students to attend classes on campus. In response to this reality, EKTU will begin to offer more online and blended courses.

To prepare its teachers for new conditions, EKTU is organizing a two-stage training.

June 2020

The first stage (theoretical) is completed by taking a massive open online course Теория и практика создания онлайн-курсов on Coursera.

Upon successful completion of the course, a Coursera certificate is issued. The course will cover the following topics:

  1. Why create a MOOC?
  2. MOOC's external environment, target audience, myths about MOOC
  3. Introduction to instructional design. Stages of creating a MOOC based on the ADDIE model
  4. Educational video production: methodological part
  5. Educational video production: organizational part
  6. Educational video production: technical part
  7. Tasks and assessments in MOOC
  8. Implementation of MOOCs
  9. The final project (plan for creating your online course)
Registration for the course
  1. Watch the video and sign up for Coursera if you don’t have an account yet
  2. Wait for an email invitation from Coursera to join the EKTU group.
  3. Register for the course "Теория и практика создания онлайн-курсов" through the EKTU page on Coursera.

During the practical part of the training, our Center's staff will help the creators of MOOCs and blended courses to develop materials for their courses.

Expected outcomes of the training:

  • Skills: participants will learn how to use each tool presented to develop a course, collaborate, or teach a course using e-learning techniques.
